Google drops IE6 like its hot

Google, the worlds largest internet company, is kicking Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 to the curb to support the new technologies at hand, like HTML5. Today I received an email from the google apps team, stating that they were officially sick of IE6's bullshit, and is flipping it the bird. In just 30 days, Google Docs and Google Sites will be dropped, and later in the year dropping support for Google Calendar and Google Mail.

Though this isn't the first we've heard of Google not putting up with Microsoft's hand-me-down browser. Back in September they showed us how they slipped past IE6's quirks by introducing Chrome Frame. Chrome Frame is a 556KB html/javascript rendering engine plugin that Goog straps to the front of IE for Google Wave.

What does this all mean?

Google is screaming that its about time to drop support for IE6, and adopt the new hot shit that we've all been waiting for. It's an excellent choice, and I'm happy to see the community moving forward, and further aside, I would love to never use that god damn browser, ever again.
